Providing insight into how much storage space is being utilized across each warehouse and in total, considering SKUs that are currently active and in use, and the total amount of pallet space they take up. This will soon include pallet counts and contracted limits.
What is an Active SKU?
An Active SKU is an item with one or more quantities in stock or inbound in an open Ship Notice per warehouse. The same SKU can exist across multiple warehouses, if there is at least one quantity per warehouse it will count as multiple Active SKUs.
For example; RD-1-1 is stored in the US, UK and EU warehouses and has 10 quantities stocked per warehouse, this would count as 3 active SKUs
Below are some visual examples of how Active SKUs are calculated:
Warehouse | In stock | Inbound | Counts as Active SKU? |
Australia | 0 | 1 | Yes |
Canada | 1 | 0 | Yes |
Europe | 0 | 0 | No |
UK | 10 | 10 | Yes |
US | 100 | 0 | Yes |
Total Active SKUs | 4 |
Warehouse | In stock | Inbound | Counts as Active SKU? |
Australia | 0 | 10 | Yes |
Canada | 0 | 10 | Yes |
Europe | 0 | 10 | Yes |
UK | 0 | 10 | Yes |
US | 0 | 10 | Yes |
Total Active SKUs | 5 |
We include inbound in the Active SKUs because they will be arriving in the warehouses in the near future and will count toward the contracted limits. This helps to not go above your limits.
What is an Active Pallet?
An Active Pallet is the total pallet space taken up by all Active SKUs based on the individual item's dimensions and quantities stored.
This is calculated in the following way:
A pallet is 48x48x40 inches which = 92,160
To get the pallet space per item we multiply the dimensions of the SKU, then by the quantity, and divide by the cubic inch of 1 pallet
Formula: ((H x L x W)*n)/92160
Key:
- H = height
- L = length
- W = weight
- n = quantity of SKU stored
- 92,160 = 1 pallet
