How to install the Reachdesk app in Slack
Note: Any user in Slack can install the app, however it is subject to your workspace owner's approval. Review the steps below. Once the Reachdesk app is installed in Slack, it will be installed for all users in your Reachdesk account.
1. Go to the Integrations page > External Apps and click on 'Install on Slack'
2. If you don't have permissions to approve apps on Slack, you will see the screen where you need to request for the app to be installed. Add the message for your Slack app manager and click "Submit"
3. You will see this screen that confirms your request to install Reachdesk has been submitted. Now, you have to wait for your Slack workspace manager's approval.
4. Your Slack workspace manager will receive the following notification in Slack. They will need to click "Approve for Workspace" to allow you to continue with installing the Reachdesk app.
5. Once your Slack workspace manager approves your request, you will get this notification.
6. After your request is approved, go back to Reachdesk > Integrations > External Apps and click on "Install on Slack" again.
7. You will see this screen where you can check the permissions that Reachdesk can view or do in Slack. Click "Allow"
8. Once the Reachdesk app is installed, you will be redirected to the Integrations page and see that it has been successfully linked. The button will also say "Installed on Slack"
9. You will see the Reachdesk app in Slack in the "Apps" section when you get your first Slack notification from Reachdesk about a gift status update.
How to uninstall the Reachdesk app in Slack
Only your Slack workspace owner can uninstall the Reachdesk app in Slack.
They will need to navigate to the Reachdesk app's page in Slack and click on the "Remove app" button.
Where are notifications created in Slack?
If you go to the "Apps" section of your Slack, you will see "Reachdesk" listed as an app, and you will see notifications created here. Note that you will not see the Reachdesk app until you get your first gift status notification, or unless you click "Add apps" and select the Reachdesk app.
Who receives notifications in Slack?
The "sender" of the gift will receive notifications when the status of the campaign they sent is updated. Note that if you are sending on behalf of another user, the user who sent the gift and the user it was sent on behalf of will both receive notifications.
The email associated with the sender must be connected with Slack to receive notifications.
What gift statuses will sync in Slack?
We will sync gift notifications for the following campaign types:
For eGifts:
- opened 🙌
- clicked 👆
- claimed 🎉
For physical gifts:
- opened 🙌
- clicked 👆
- address confirmed ✅
- shipped 📦
- delivered 🎉
- donated 🎉 (marketplace only)
- cancelled ⚠️
What does the gift notification look like in Slack?
The notification created in Slack will include:
- Recipient's name
- Recipient's company (if available)
- Campaign name
- Sent from
- Gift cost
- Gift (The final gift chosen for marketplace campaigns)

What can users do with the gift notification in Slack?
- Users can click on "Review gift" to view the gift in Reachdesk. This will open a new tab.
- Users can check how and when users engaged with their gift so they can send a follow up message or personal reminders.

When the Reachdesk app is installed in Slack, is it installed for all users? Yes, you only need to install it once for all users.
I installed the Reachdesk app, but I can't see it in Slack. You will see the app when you get the first gift status notification from Reachdesk, or you can click "Add apps" and look for the Reachdesk app.
When I install the Reachdesk app in Slack, will it sync past gift statuses? No, it will only sync new status changes that are updated after the app is installed.
