Why we ask for your company Tax ID
When you move inventory between Reachdesk warehouses in different countries, the destination country treats this as an import. Because you own the goods, that import must be completed using your company’s local tax registration for the destination country — not Reachdesk’s. This helps prevent customs delays and ensures duties/taxes are handled correctly and in a compliant manner.
Not sure where you’re registered?
Your Finance/Accounting team can confirm which countries your company holds tax registrations in and share the correct numbers (e.g., VAT, EIN, ABN, BN).
Where this applies today
You’ll need a local company Tax ID to transfer inventory into warehouses located in:
- United Kingdom — VAT (e.g., GB123456789)
- United States — EIN (e.g., 12-3456789)
- Australia — ABN (e.g., 12 345 678 901)
- Canada — BN (e.g., 12345 6789 RT0001)
- Ireland — VAT (e.g., IE1234567A)
Please ensure the tax IDs you provide follow the formats shown in the examples above, per country.
Don’t have a local Tax ID?
The warehouse feature is no longer available on our platform unless you have a tax ID in the country where the warehouse is located.
The only exception is for transfers to our EU warehouse, which is located in Ireland. When sending goods to this EU warehouse, you may use a Tax ID from any country within the European Union. Destination Country Tax ID needs to be enabled for import and export customs declaration, and have an EORI number associated. You may also be asked to provide a signed POA (Power of Attorney).
- Insert your Tax ID here, to check if EORI validation is valid
- If you do not have an EORI number, please apply online by clicking on this link
You can still deliver locally without a cross-border transfer by using Reachdesk Swag Sourcing. We’ll procure and fulfill in-country, so there’s no import step and local tax registration needed.
👉 Ask our team at professional-services@reachdesk.com about Swag Sourcing for the country you need.
