Watch this video or follow the steps below to create a manual campaign for a product from the Reachdesk Marketplace:
Before you start
A manual Marketplace campaign can use either the Marketplace catalog or the Amazon catalog.
Use the Amazon catalog only if the Amazon setting is enabled for your account. More about this here: Amazon Gifting.
Create the campaign
Please note that the ability to create a new campaign is determined by your user role within the platform, and is available to Admin and Campaign Manager users.
Go to Campaigns.
Click New Campaign.
Select Marketplace.
-
Choose a gift from the Marketplace catalog, or from the Amazon catalog if Amazon is enabled.
Use the toggle in the top-right corner of the page to switch between the two catalogs.
To let senders choose any item from the Reachdesk Marketplace when sending, select Empower the Sender in the catalog view.
After you select a gift, the campaign settings page opens.
Configure the campaign
Review each section below before saving the campaign.
- Overview
- Gift details
- Address confirmation email & page
- Sync gift activity
- Cost summary
- Send options
- Claim options
- Notification options
Overview
Use Overview to define the campaign and control who can access it.
Add a campaign name.
Add a campaign image so users can identify the campaign in Reachdesk.
Select the team(s) that can access the campaign.
Note on teams: If no teams are selected, the campaign will not appear to users with a Sender role. Senders can only see campaigns assigned to their specific teams.
Note on Wallets: This campaign type does not have a pre-set wallet field. Senders select the payment source (User or Team wallet) during the "Wallet" step of the send flow.
Gift details
Use Gift details to review the selected product and set the default gift content.
Click the gift image or gift name to view product details.
Click Update selection to choose a different gift.
Set the default gift details (images and gift note) for the campaign. Gift note character limits vary by product because they are set by the vendor. Check the note field while typing to see the exact limit for that item.
Use the lock and unlock icons to control whether the sender can edit those details during sending.
Reachdesk automatically uploads your organization’s branding logo to marketplace gifts that include a logo option on the campaign page. Logos are not automatically populated for Sender’s Choice marketplace campaigns. When sending any marketplace campaign, always confirm that the correct logo has been applied.
Address confirmation email & page
Use Address confirmation email & page to define the message and page content recipients see when address confirmation is required.
Click Preview & edit.
Update the default values that Senders will see when using the campaign.
Click Save.
Clear Allow senders to edit if you do not want senders to customize this message when sending.
Sync gift activity
Use Sync gift activity if you want to track gifting activity in Salesforce or Marketo.
Select the Integration user that will be used for sync. The selected user must already have their Reachdesk account connected to Salesforce or Marketo.
Select the campaign or program to sync with.
Map Reachdesk gift statuses to your Salesforce campaign member statuses or Marketo program member statuses.
The campaign settings will show which statuses are being synced below the Campaign field, such as Processed, Shipped, Delivered, and Donated.
Costs Summary
Use Costs Summary to review the charges applied when the campaign is sent.
Gift cost: The cost of the Marketplace product.

Send options
Use Send options to control how the campaign can be sent.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I save changes to my manual Marketplace campaign?
For Marketplace campaigns, the Address Confirmation Email & Page template must be completed and saved before the campaign itself can be saved.
To resolve this:
- Within the campaign settings, go to Address Confirmation Email & Page.
- Click Preview & edit.
- Complete all required fields.
- Click Save.
- Return to the campaign and save it again.
Why doesn’t my campaign appear when I click Send Gift?
If an active campaign does not appear, check the following:
Is there enough wallet balance?
The user sending the gift must have enough funds in their wallet. If the wallet balance is zero or too low, the campaign will be hidden.
Is the campaign restricted by team access?
The campaign may be restricted to specific teams. Confirm that the user belongs to a team that has access to the campaign.
Check the following:
- On the Send Gift page, review the selected team filters at the top of the screen.
- If a team filter is applied, click the X next to the team name to remove it and show all campaigns available to you.
Note: Users with Sender permissions can only see campaigns assigned to their own teams and cannot remove the Team filter.
Is the item out of stock?
If the Marketplace gift is out of stock, the campaign will not be available to send.
To resolve this, an Admin or Campaign Manager should:
- Open the campaign settings page.
- In Gift details, click Update selection.
- Choose a different gift from the Marketplace catalog.
- Add a new gift note to the campaign.
- Save the campaign.
- Retry the send placement process.
If the campaign still does not appear after these checks, please contact support@reachdesk.com.
What happens if the item goes out of stock after the send is placed?
If Allow recipient choice is enabled
If the selected Marketplace item goes out of stock after the send starts processing, the recipient can choose a different gift of the same or lower value.
This can happen in two ways:
-
If the item goes out of stock before the recipient confirms their address, they will be prompted to choose another gift during address confirmation.
"Hi [Recipient], [Sender] from [Company] would like to send you a gift, but it seems that the gift is not available anymore. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please choose another gift below." -
If the recipient already confirmed their address while the item was still available, they will receive a second email asking them to choose a different item.
"Dear [Recipient], It seems the product you chose went out of stock. We are very sorry for this. Please click the link below to choose another option."
If Allow recipient choice is not enabled
If the campaign does not have Allow recipient choice enabled, the recipient cannot choose an alternative gift.
What happens next depends on timing:
-
If the send requires address confirmation and the item goes out of stock before the address is confirmed, the recipient will see this error when trying to confirm their address:
"Oh no! Looks like this gift is no longer available. Please contact the person who shared this link." - If the send does not require address confirmation, or if the item goes out of stock after the address is already confirmed, the recipient does not receive a notification about the issue.
In these cases, the Marketplace vendor contacts Reachdesk to report the stock issue. The vendor cancels and refunds the order. The sender receives an alert that the order was cancelled, and the user who created the campaign also receives an alert that the campaign item is out of stock.
Do I need to pay any fees for customs clearance?
The price shown at checkout is all-inclusive of taxes and shipping.
Can I send a marketplace order without the recipient details?
When sending marketplace orders via manual or automated sends, the recipient’s first name, last name, email, and country are required, so it's not possible to place a send without these recipient's details.
If you don’t have these details, you can use a Landing Page campaign. This allows you to share a link with the recipient, who can then enter their own information and claim the gift card. Once completed, the send will be created automatically.
What should I check before sending alcohol in the US?
When shipping alcoholic beverages within the United States, vendors must comply with state-specific regulations. Because of this, many vendors have restrictions on which states they can ship to.
Before placing an order, it’s important to check the Marketplace product page, where any shipping restrictions by state will be clearly listed.
If an order is placed to a restricted state, the vendor will not be able to fulfill it, and the send may be cancelled.
To avoid cancellations:
- Review the product details in the Marketplace
- Check for any state shipping restrictions
- Confirm the recipient’s state is eligible before placing the order
