Guidance for Shipping to Turkey – Customs Clearance Process
Please note that all shipments entering Turkey (except documents/letters) are subject to local customs clearance procedures and require the recipient's participation in the clearance process.
Receiver Action Required:
- For any shipment other than documents or letters, the recipient is required to complete the customs clearance process directly with UPS Turkey.
- Once the shipment arrives in Turkey, UPS Turkey will send the recipient an email and SMS containing a link to its online brokerage portal. Through this portal, the recipient will be asked to provide the information and documentation required to initiate customs clearance.
- As part of the process, the recipient may be required to complete and sign a customs authorization form (Power of Attorney or customs representation authorization), which allows UPS Turkey to act on their behalf for customs clearance. The required forms are generated through the UPS brokerage portal and submitted to Turkish Customs for approval.
- Please note that any notarized authorization documents required by Turkish Customs can only be obtained by the recipient through a notary office in Turkey. Under Turkish regulations, Reachdesk cannot obtain or sign these documents on the recipient's behalf.
- Customs requirements may vary depending on the shipment type, value, and recipient status. UPS Turkey will advise the recipient of any additional documentation required during the clearance process.
Once a customs official approve the clearance, the shipment is released and delivered to the receiver’s address.
Information Typically Required for Clearance:
Receiver’s Turkish ID number (T.C. Kimlik No.) for individuals or Tax ID (Vergi No.) for businesses
Invoice or proof of value for the goods being imported
Description of the contents (product type and purpose)
