Use this guide to choose the right Marketo landing page flow for sending physical gifts with Reachdesk. There are two supported options, and the main difference is whether Address Confirmation in Reachdesk is turned on or off.
This video details and visualises the two methods, but we go into more detail below.
Choose the Right Setup
We recommend choosing your setup based on how you want to handle recipient address data and the level of friction you want in the experience.
| Scenario | Recommended Setup |
| You do not want to manage or store home address information in Marketo | Use Address Confirmation |
| You do not trust the address information currently stored in Marketo | Use Address Confirmation |
| You are comfortable storing and managing home address data in Marketo | Do Not Use Address Confirmation |
| You want the fewest steps possible for a prospect to receive a gift | Do Not Use Address Confirmation |
Important: The way you trigger the campaign send does not change. The only difference is whether Address Confirmation is toggled on or off within the Reachdesk campaign settings.
How the Two Flows Work
Option 1: Use Address Confirmation
Use this option when you do not want to collect or store the recipient’s full home address in Marketo. With Address Confirmation turned on, your Marketo landing page form only needs these fields:
Email Address
Country
After the recipient submits the form, Reachdesk sends them an email asking them to confirm their delivery address. The gift is only sent after they complete that confirmation step.
What this means for the recipient:
They complete the Marketo landing page form.
They receive an email from Reachdesk asking to confirm their address.
They confirm their address.
Reachdesk sends the gift.
Option 2: Do Not Use Address Confirmation
Use this option when you want Marketo to collect the recipient’s home address and pass it directly to Reachdesk for immediate fulfillment.
Required form fields: To ensure successful delivery and avoid "Invalid Address" errors, your Marketo form must include:
First Name
Last Name
Email
Address Line 1
Town/City
Postcode
Country
Phone Number: While not mandatory, we highly recommend including this to assist carriers with deliveries.
What this means for the recipient:
The recipient completes the Marketo landing page form (including address).
Marketo passes the data to Reachdesk via webhook.
Reachdesk sends the gift immediately.
Map Address Fields in the Marketo Webhook
If you use custom fields in Marketo to store address data, those fields must be mapped correctly in the webhook payload so Reachdesk can read them.
Examples of common custom mappings include:
lead.home citylead.home country
If these fields aren't mapped correctly, the send will fail in Reachdesk because the required shipping data will be missing.
Data Management & Privacy
Turning Address Confirmation off creates a more seamless experience, but it means you are responsible for managing sensitive home address data within Marketo.
Note on Data Deletion: Reachdesk recommends as a best practice that you set up a Marketo Smart Campaign to automatically delete or clear home address fields once the data is no longer needed (for example, 30 days after the gift has been sent).
