Countries that require customs details
We are unlocking the capability to send to more countries outside of our warehouse's trade zone. To see where we can ship internationally by warehouse, please review our latest rate card.
Why are customs details important?
Customs details are required in order for an item to be shipped internationally, outside our warehouse's trade zone.
How to add customs details to an item
The following steps can be done for a new item or an existing item in the platform.
1. In the Item Page, go to the tab called "Customs details"
2. Enable the "Ship this item outside of the warehouse's trade zone" toggle
3. When this toggle is enabled, the Tariff Code, Manufacturing Country, Unit Cost, Currency and the Confirmation section will be required
4. Populate the required fields below
Tariff or HS Code (Harmonized Code) - A number a 10 digit number used by customs to classify the product being shipped. It is used to define the duties and taxes.
Manufactured In - The country where the goods originated, where they were produced or assembled.
Unit Cost (exc. tax) and Currency - This is the cost of the individual item, e.g 7.80 for a water bottle. You may be asked to prove the cost of the item if the customs officers think the price is incorrect.
Using AI for Tariff Suggestions
If you have AI enabled in your Reachdesk instance, you can use our "Suggest with AI" button to get suggestions of tariff codes based on your item's name and description. When the button is clicked, you will get up to 3 suggestions, and you can view the description of the tariff code when you hover over it. Simply click on the code you want to use to populate the tariff code field.
Using other tools for Tariff Code Suggestions
- Refer to these tools to determine the tariff code of your item:
- Alternatively, reach out to your supplier who should be able to provide you with this.
3. Confirm that you understand this information will be used in the customs declaration form when the item is shipped internationally and that any inaccurate information can cause delays in shipping. This needs to be ticked in order for the item to be customs ready.
4. Click Save Item
5. When you go to the Inventory page, you should be able to filter items by "Customs Ready" and see the Customs column. It will say "Yes" if all customs details are populated. This means you will be allowed to send a bundle campaign with this item to a destination that is outside of the warehouse's trade zone.
If you are having any issues, or have any questions about this process, please contact support@reachdesk.com.
